40 Heatless Days

It’s been proven hundreds of times that using heated tools is the biggest cause of hair damage and since I’m endeavouring to grow my hair I’ve been trying to use so..
(I've put everything heat related away in box under my bed to avoid temptation!)
I’ve decided to go 40 days without anything hot touching my hair, including hair dryers, straighteners, curlers, crimpers, wavers etc… and I’m going to do a little post at the end to let you know if I’ve actually noticed a difference to the health of hair!

Have any of you done something similar?
And more importantly are any of you going to join me in scrapping the hot tools for a while?! xx

(you’re hair always grows at the same pace however the more damage you do to your hair the easier it breaks of so sometimes it looks like your hair isn’t growing when in fact it’s just breaking off!)

P.S I’m making an exception for my birthday and for prom both of which fall into the next 40 days, but I'm just going to add on an extra two days to make up for it :)

I've never used much heat on my hair and in the past sixth months, apart from the odd hairdrying and straightening attempt about once, I've not touched heat. I've not noticed that much of a difference except my split ends are a tiny bit better. One of my friends hair refuses to grow anymore 'cause she's straightened it everyday since about 11 and it looks horrible! :{ xx

I really good do with doing this but I find it very difficult. Unless it very warm, it takes ages for my hair to dry naturally and I mean about 3-4 hours which isn't ideal when you need to be out first thing and looking professional.

Good luck! Iv been on a heat ban for about a year or two now and i will never go back! My hair has been so much healthier and better condition since quitting the heat, and now i only allow myself heat at the max like one a month! Good luck with yours! xx

This is a great idea, can't wait to see the outcome. Luckily I don't use heat on my hair all that much. I use a hairdryer to dry my roots only and let the rest air-dry.

I curl my hair with straighteners for special occasions or just for those times I want to look extra nice :)

i try not to use too much heat but i can't leave my hair to dry naturally as it would take so long! good luck with the challenge x

@hannah and jenny luckily I don't use heat that much, and I very rarely blow dry my hair so fingers crossed I'll manage!

@PrimpandPreen & Meowcakes I really hope I see results, as I don't use heat alot but I think I do love using my straighteners once or twice a week :)

Great idea! I'm really interested to see how much of a difference it makes. The only heat I use on my hair is a hairdryer, but unfortunately that's a must since I don't have time to let it air dry :(

There was a time I used my straightenrs every day but now I very rarely use anything on it at all. If I leave my hair to dry naturally it goes all wavy which I like so a hair dryer only gets used once a week I'd say. Good luck x

Great challenge - I'll be interested to hear what results you get!

Sadly I won't be joining you, as my hair looks completely blah if it's not either straightened or curled. And it takes forever to air-dry because it's so thick, so I couldn't survive without a hairdryer!

I actually don't use anything hot on my hair because I'm afraid of damage; instead, I use old-fashioned curlers (which take WAY too long to work). :P

Ooh, good luck! That sounds like a great plan, I'll be excited to hear how you get on! :)
I used to use my straightners everyday, but I have started using them less and less now. Unfortunately I still rely on my hairdryer though! xx

good luck! I haven't completely stopped using hot tools on my hair but I've reduced the frequency and notice less breakage

The only thing I use is a hairdryer but I'm not sure I could give it up. =\ Good luck!

@SilhouetteScreams luckily the hair dryer is the one thing I don't use, I always let my hair dry naturally!

@MissEllie I always think the same, I'm hoping relying on products will work some sort of miracle for my hair though :)

Good luck! I try really really hard not to use any heat on my hair. The straight look is not worth it if it means breakage.
I hope you have a fab birthday and prom xxx

Really good luck with this, I don't know how I'd manage without drying my hair every morning before work!

Good idea! I never even use a blow dryer, ever! Only a curler on a special occasion to get the frizz out of my curly hair. My hair still looks dry! I think it's lack of vitamins in my diet. let me know what difference you see. XOXO

I stopped using hair dryers a few years ago when I started growing out my hair. Coconut oil helps a lot when it comes to keeping it healthy.

I've also found that pulling my hair back into a bun to dry leaves it smooth and shiny.

I hope you find a routine that works for you!

@Jillian and Jodie not sure I can last - finigers crossed it makes a difference though!

@Kittenish luckily my hair is naturallyvery stright and always dries quite sleek my main issue is trying to inject some volume and texture :)
