NOTD Nail Art

Nail Art – sound easy & looks super pretty but… yeah it’s harder than it looks(especially doing my right hand!)

I really like this pattern – it’s pretty :)

I used all Barry M (surprise surprise)

I’ve had quite a few comments on them which is always nice :P

(I took these the night I did them I had this sneaky suspicion I’d ruin them while I slept lol so the lightings terrible)

Does anyone have any tips on nail art? Anything that will help me make them less messy would be helpful :P

So to ease myself back into it :P here’s a little FOTD

Maxfactor false lash effect mascara – I always forget how much I like this
Pink Slate eyeshadow duo

(I know i got a bit carried away with the swirly things.... but they're so pretty :D)

Bad Gal Lash

I have officially finished all my exams for this year!!
I’m a happy bunny :)
-I’ve got three reviews to type up so expect them soon =]

Anyway, I know I rave about benefit’s bad gal lash ALL the time so I figured I’d do a review on WHY I like it :p

I’m just going to bullet point the pros and the cons- otherwise I’ll just ramble on!

(By the way, I didn’t curl my lashes before hand or anything… I really should curl my lashes more!)

Pro's
Lengthens my rather puny lashes
Add volume and definition
Doesn’t smell funky like some mascara -cough- Maybelline colossal –cough-
It generally makes my lashes look like big feather dusters :p
For me though, the real selling point is how it really elongates my outer lashes – I think it makes my eyes look sultry XD
Big wand – I know some people hate this feature and find it difficult to work with but for me, it captures nearly all my lashes in one sweep, anything that saves time gets a thumbs up from me :)

(see huge!)

Cons
Fall out is pretty bad :/
If you apply a third coat(like I did for the pictures :p) it makes for super chunky lashes… not good.

Still no luck on finding an exact dupe but I may have a new favourite!

After always repurchasing bad gal I’m pretty taken with Maybelline colossal (full review up soon!)

P.S I don’t think I’ve told you all, but I’ve got twitter :) I don’t tweet THAT much but you know :p I’m tweeting more often recently!

P.P.S I’m going to be attempting to change my blog layout so… if something goes terribly wrong (and that’s highly likely) I apologise in advance!

Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick

Revlon’s recently brought out some long lasting lipsticks and me being a girl who hates having to reapply during the day, couldn’t wait to get my hands on one :)
I couldn’t find them at the two boots stores but there was a nice supply of them in my Superdrug and so I grabbed it in platinum petal, a lovely rosy shade with some pinky tones.

It’s meant to be :
* Food-proof lipcolor with a built-in, ultra-conditioning topcoat
* One-step application- No topcoat required for comfortable wear
* Stays comfortable and wears beautifully for up to 12 hours
* Does not feather or fade; no touch-ups required, even after meals
* Available in 20 full-coverage, soft satin shades

Revlon seems to have a really nice range of colours(12 shades), from nudes to slightly more sultry shades, there doesn’t seem to be any really dark shades- however I think most people will be able to find something to suit them!

It’s £8.99 for 3ml which is a bit expensive for a Revlon lip colour, but if it does all it promises then it’ll be worth it :p You apply like a lip gloss with a doe foot applicator – I actually quite like this, I feel I can get more precise application =]

Apart from the doe foot applicator the packaging is just OK. I think it looks pretty, but there’s no suction-bit at the top (I’ve no idea what it’s called!) but basically you get a lot of product on the applicator :/

First impressions:
It’s thick, pigmented, and seems to apply really smoothly and evenly! When I first applied it I was really impressed. But once it dries it seems to go very sticky – almost tacky… I’ve got it on now, and I can’t say my lips feel ‘dry’ exactly & it hasn’t made any dry patches stand out but they don’t feel hydrated at all. It smells like plastic and it’d definitely noticeable – it’s not AWFUL though.

After 3 hours
Since wearing it, I’ve licked my lips, drank etc. and the colour is still there – just as strongly pigmented, just as sticky.

- very attractive right? :p
After about 6 hours:
It’s faded significantly but there’s still a lot of colour on my lips :) It’s not made my lips uncomfortably dry but I really don’t like the sticky texture going on!

- I reapplied it with a lip balm over the top when I went out for a meal & problem solved :) It lasted all through the meal, drinks and it was still on when I got home after a long night out!

Overall, I think this is a VAST improvement on other long lasting lipsticks (all the others have made my lips feel awful!) but it’s still less than perfect. I can’t imagine me reaching for it in winter – when I suffer with dry lips ‘cos I think this would make any dry patches stand out, but for summer, I’m really impressed!

lol I think a lipstick that lasts 12 hours and still looks just as good as first applied is going to remain a fantasy though :p

(Sorry about the quality of the pictures, there's a little bit of glitter in the lipstick and for some reason my camera refuses to take decent pictures of glitter! :p)
- most ended up like this :p

My Birthday Look FOTD

I pretty much always have my hair straight(as it’s naturally very straight) but since it was my birthday I fancied curling it for a change
I used my new curling tongs which are roughly 1inch. It took forever as my hair does not like being curled however I do love curls! As expected the curls dropped pretty quickly do I just threw it up in a messy bun before going out for dinner with the family

As expected the curls dropped out my hair at around 4ish so I just popped it up in a messy bun – I’ve started putting the bun to one side I think it looks pretty =]

Anyway onto make up - I wanted something pretty subtle and natural as family would be popping in all day, something inoffensive that i didn't need to top up :P

Face
Bourjois’ 10 hour sleep – I had 2 hours sleep!!! I wasn’t tired at all on my birthday though… very odd :p
I set it lightly with NYC lose powder – I’m trying to use up some of my setting powders…
And then a sweeped a little Georgia from benefit all over =]

Eyes
Gosh velvet liner in black on my top lash line
Gosh velvet liner in blue along my lower lash line – lol the blue just added a ‘pop’ of colour :p
And a mix of mascaras – still no look finding a dupe for my bad gal!
- no eyeshadows :(
I actually really like this look, it's pretty toned down but it's still me :)

Lips
I had revlon's colorstay ultimate liquid lipstick - review of this coming up soon :)

Blue Blue Blue Blue Blue Blue Blue Blue...

-The sun has gone to my head XD I couldn't think of a good title for this post.. :p

I realised earlier today that I’ve never worn blue eyeshadow… EVER!!

Blue’s my favourite colour… in case that isn’t obvious from my blog…. And I own quite a lot of blue eyeshadows but I’ve never actually worn any of it… I’ve no idea why :p

I guess I didn’t think blue would suit me – I mean I normally associate blue eyeshadow with blue, green or gray eyes… but I figured I really needed to use some of my blue shadows :p

-I actually really like how it’s come out :)

Instead of just doing a face of the day I figured I’d do a little tutorial sorta thing =] (I’m trying to not wear foundation every day so I didn’t really want to do a FOTD)

(If you click on the pictures you can see a bigger version :])

1. I used UDEPP – It’s not as thick as Stay don’t stray from benefit, but I still love it :) –ALWAYS prime your eyes before doing eyeshadow, especially when you’re doing intense bright looks – it’s makes the BIGGEST difference :)

2. Apply a white eyeshadow all over the lid and up to above the crease – I applied quite a lot, just because I wanted it to be really white in order to make the other colours stand out more.

3. Next introduce a little bit of turquoise lightly in the crease and outer corner – I kept this really subtle so it added a bit of an outline for where I was doing to but the darker colours

4. Place a slightly darker blue over the outer half of the lid and on the outer half of the crease – you could blend as you go but I left this unblended as it ends up being blended as you go :)

5. Then put a much darker and ‘truer’ blue in the outer corner. This is where you should begin to shape the eyeshadow shape (what ever shape suits your eyes)

6. Place your highlight colour under the brow, I used more of the white eyeshadow to make the blues stand out more :)

7. Now I introduce a little more turquoise along the crease and generally go over some of the colours to make them darker.

8. Bring the darker blue under the lower lashes – about half way along the lower lash line.

9. Place the turquoise in the inner half of the lower lash line and add a little white to the very inner corner.

10. Eyeliner! This is the hardest part for me – I’m trying to use eyeliner more =/ I need to practice lol. I actually messed this up by not following my lash line (don’t ask me how!) but I ended up saving it I think :p I did double winged liner which I actually think looks great with this look :)

11. Mascara time! Mascara really finishes of any look – I didn’t use my beloved bad gal – I’m still trying to find a good dupe…

12. I did this as an after thought, I used some of Barry M’s Glitter Lashes – I’ve had this stuff forever (no idea what possessed me to buy it..) so I figured I finally had a look where I could use this!

13. I just got a blue eyeliner and ran it across my waterline, a little bit in the inner corner of my eye and a tiny bit between the two wings of eyeliner – it’s a little bit more reflective and gives the eyes a bit of a ‘pop’ :p

Obviously you can change any of these steps to suit you – I can’t decide whether or not I like the glitter stage – I quite like it all matte :)

What do you think?
